This mix is fairly chronological, although not entirely. I tried to avoid deep cuts, but there are a few. Also, I respect the “No Peter Hook, No New Order” camp, but I still love the sound. It makes me want to dance. Find, like, listen.

Jan is a writer and poet who figures into my teenage Flint art scene personal mythology of the 80s, even though she had no idea until recently. This playlist is a companion to my 80s coming-of-age novel, Your Silent Face. Stuart Page is a protagonist obsessed with 80s New Wave and Ian Curtis, the lead singer of Joy Divison. All of the tunes and bands in the playlist get a mention in the novel. The novel is available on Amazon.
